When you hear the word Serengeti – what immediately comes to mind? Some think of the wilds of Africa, and others, like us here, think of great looking technologically advanced sunglasses designed for drivers and pilots called, The Serengeti Driver. And because Awesome Avenue.biz is a fashion and popular culture oriented store, that’s the Serengeti I’ll be focusing on here.
We brought Serengeti Driver sunglasses to Awesome Avenue.biz last year to not only complement our sunglass offerings, but because the Serengeti Driver name has shaped the fashion popular culture landscape of the last 20 years. When we originally met with the Serengeti representative back in 2007, they were very excited to have their products featured in such a unique store as Awesome Avenue.biz. They agreed that the classic Serengeti Driver had definitely established its niche in the popular culture arena, as it has been a favored sunglass for driving enthusiasts, celebrities, pilots and fashionistas for the past 20 years. In fact, celebrities such as Patrick Dempsey of “Grey’s Anatomy” fame and 4 time auto racing champion, Alain Prost, can often be seen tooling around in their Serengetis.
So, what is it about this brand of sunglasses that makes them so special and favored amongst these people? Well, of course they look great. However, behind those looks lies some pretty ingenious technology. Serengeti Drivers are really the first sunglasses to be designed specifically for driving. The lenses are designed to reduce eye strain by accommodating for the ever changing light conditions that we as drivers regularly contend with. With Serengeti Driver sunglasses, you can see clearly whether it’s sunny or foggy. How? Well, specifically through the use of these 2 lens technologies:
1. Photochromic – This essentially allows your eyes to be on cruise control and takes the stress off your eyes. The molecules within the lenses adjust constantly causing them to lighten and darken almost instinctively with changing light. In addition, this technology is actually engineered directly into the lens, so regardless of how long you have your Serengetis, these molecules won’t wear off or wear out.
2. Spectral Control – This allows you to see everything you want and nothing you don’t by filtering out specific colors within the visible light spectrum giving you high definition contrast and superior color enhancement. This leaves you with crisper colors and clearer imaging. Plus, the blue light which causes blurring eye strain and fatigue is also blocked out.
Ok – that’s all pretty cool, but what, specifically, makes them so desired by fashion lovers as well as a pop culture phenomenon? Well, along with this lens technology, the makers of Serengeti, originally Corning Wear and now Bushnell, have designed some timeless and fashionable frames to package their lenses in. Many of these designs, specifically, the Aviator, have been in style for the last 20 – 30 years. In fact, the sunglasses I have been wearing for the past few years are Serengeti Drivers with the aviator frames, and there are photographs of me from 1992 wearing these exact same style of Serengeti glasses. Also, the makers of Serengeti are very much on the cutting edge of new styles, and package their lenses in fashion forward frames as well. So, whether you like the classics, the trends, or to be ahead of the curve, there is a Serengeti Drivers sunglass for you.
Of course, Serengeti Drivers aren’t inexpensive. Most brand name sunglasses are not. However, I’d like to invite you to check out our selection of Serengeti Drivers by clicking here. I think you will find that the prices and styles are comparable to the Chanel, Ray-Ban and Armani sunglasses, plus with the technology developed into the Serengeti Drivers, not available in any of these other brands, you’ll see you’re getting something very special. Plus, as with all of my blogs, I would like to offer you a special discount on our Serengeti Drivers, so if you would like to order a pair for yourself, simply type in the word “Driver” when prompted at checkout, and you’ll receive a 20% discount.
Happy viewing!
