Awesome Avenue Featured in Board Game Blog

Hi,

A couple of months ago, I was interviewed by a well known blog called "Love to Know," about why board games continue to be so popular and which board games we are currently carrying at Awesome Avenue.

Here is the link to the article: http://boardgames.lovetoknow.com/Retro_Board_Games_Interview

Hope you enjoy.

Sporting the Gear

Hi,

A couple of weeks ago, a colleague of mine suggested that it would be a smart idea to wear some of the items we are carrying at Awesome Avenue, as a way to advertise and market the store and its products.  So, today, I decided to take his advice, and I pulled a couple of t-shirts I have wanted since I initially brought them into the store.  The first is the Delicious Vinyl Records Logo Mens Vintage White T-shirt, and the other is Technics Teach Them Well Mens Grey Vintage DJ T-shirt.  Both of these are by an LA based designer/manufacturer called Chaser.

I’m not sure which one I’m going to wear first.  I think it will be the Delicious Vinyl.  For those of you who grew up in the 1980s, Delicious Vinyl is an LA based independent record label which signed and developed many artists now considered the pioneers of Hip-Hop, including Tone Loc, Young M.C., and The Pharcyde.  Other well known acts included bands such as The Brand New Heavies.

The Delicious Vinyl T-shirt features the original Delicious Vinyl logo, which has become somewhat iconic, especially in the music circles.  It is of a classic looking animated character literally about to take a second bite out of a steaming hot record.  The logo’s original colors of black and red aren’t available on this particular shirt.  On this one, the logo is green to give it the appearance that this shirt has been around since the label launched back in 1987, and it has gone through 1987 washes in the laundry machine, thus causing the red and black to have faded to green.  It is a true classic vintage looking t-shirt.

I hope it will get some attention and people will ask me where I got it, and I can say, well, I just happen to know this great online store that sells all kinds of retro and vintage oriented stuff – it’s called Awesome Avenue.

I'll let you know.

David
