Lincoln Logs

A recent trip to reunite with some relatives brought a bit of a dilemma which may be familiar to you single guys out there: what to bring your baby cousin.    Most single guys we know aren’t very good at bringing toys to kids, other than sports gear or the occasional fire truck.  But what can you bring the toddler, too young for a baseball glove and who already has every stuffed animal known to mankind?   Or the toddler who simply has everything?

In my case it was a barrel of Lincoln Logs

Awesome Avenue has a selection of cool, classic toys to bring a smile to any toddler’s face, including Lincoln Logs and Tinkertoys.

Watch this spot for pictures of Awesome Avenue in action….but we promise not to play with the toys.

Awesome Avenue Featured in Board Game Blog

Hi,

 A couple of months ago, I was interviewed by a well known blog called "Love to Know," about why board games continue to be so popular and which board games we are currently carrying at Awesome Avenue.

Here is the link to the article: http://boardgames.lovetoknow.com/Retro_Board_Games_Interview

Hope you enjoy.

Yum Yum Fun Is What It’s All About

Flashback – 1979!  1979 was almost 30 years ago, but strangely enough, many of that year’s events mirror what’s happening today.  For example:

  • US auto maker Chrysler asked the government for money to avoid bankruptcy;
  • The TV series “Star Trek” had a new movie;
  • The Snoopy Sno Cone Machine was released for sale.

Ahh yes, the legendary Snoopy Sno Cone Machine.  Do you remember this classic toy?  It was a summer time favorite for kids from 1979 until it was discontinued.  If you don’t recall this toy or never had or heard of it, it essentially allowed you to make small snow cone treats at home.  You put ice cubes into the opening at the top of Snoopy’s dog house, turned the crank while you pushed the ice cubes down with the Snoopy pusher to get shaved ice.  You then scooped out the ice with the little shovels into a cup, added the fruit flavored punch mix, and VOILA – you had a Snoopy Snow Cone.  All the parts were included, even the flavor mix and the cups.  Well, this iconic toy is back, looking and functioning exactly the same as it did almost 30 years ago.  Even the packaging it comes in is the same.  And of course, once we heard of its re-release, we immediately had to have the Original Snoopy Sno Cone Machine at Awesome Avenue.  So, we do, right here.

But you need to get yours fast.  Sababa, the company who licensed and manufactured the new Original Snoopy Sno Cone Machine, unfortunately, just went out of business.  We do have a few Snoopy Sno Cone Machines left.  Plus, we’ve been told that another company is going to be picking up the licenses Sababa had, but we have no idea if they will make the Sno Cone Machine or any of the same products that Sababa did.  So, get your Snoopy Sno Cone Machine today, and relive your childhood, introduce this classic to your own kids, or simply collect it as a piece of popular culture memorabilia.   Because once they’re gone, they may really be gone.

For you Peanuts fans out there, we also have a few other products in stock, from the classic Charles Schultz comic series, including these fun T-shirts:

1.      Peanuts Characters T-shirt which is emblazoned with Charlie Brown, Lucy, Linus and the entire Peanuts gang

2.      Joe Cool T-shirt - Joe Cool, Snoopy’s hip alter ego highlights this white tee

3.      Woodstock Where Are All The Chicks T-shirt featuring Snoopy’s best bird friend, Woodstock, wondering where all his chicks are at

4.      Snoopy and Woodstock Peanuts Chicks Love Me T-shirt which has Snoopy sitting on his dog house surrounded by all his chicks

They’re all available now, and with free shipping within the continental US, they’re sure to be a perfect money saving addition for your holiday shopping.

I will try to touch base before Thanksgiving, but if I’m not able to…HAPPY THANKSGIVING!

David

Welcome To Street Beat, The New Official Blog Site Of Awesome Ave.com

Welcome to Street Beat, the new official blog site of Awesome Avenue.bizIt’s been a while since we posted any sort of blog entry, and we apologize for that.  The reason why we have been so absent is that we have been working on creating a whole new Awesome Avenue.biz website, with a more elegant and mature look, plus new features and a plethora of new products.  A couple of the new features you will find are:

1.      Banners at the top of the homepage which not only list the vast array of products we sell, but are also direct links to those particular product categories making it simpler to find what you are looking for.

2.      NEW ITEMS section on the Awesome Avenue.biz homepage which highlights some of the new products we are receiving regularly.  Each image in this section is also a direct link to its individual product.  We didn’t stop there.  We also created a brand new category devoted to ALL of the new products we have received, appropriately called “New Arrivals.”  We think you will find it to be an extensive display.  An example of some of these new items are:

·         Backpacks by the brand famous for blending fashion with utility: DICKIES

·         New toys including an action figure of Nirvana’s Kurt Cobain from the band’s famous 1993 MTV Unplugged performance and a TV plug and play version of the legendary Atari 2600 joystick with a ton of classic Atari games programmed into it all with their original graphics and sounds.

·         The Muppets’ Kermit the Frog and Animal wallets

Please check all of this out and more by visiting our new site, which is located at the same place our old one was - www.awesomeavenue.biz.

Lastly, you may have noticed that I introduced this blog today with “Welcome to Street Beat…”  We have given our official Awesome Avenue.biz blog a name.  Even with this catchy new name, the premise of the blog is the same.  I’ll tell you of products and brands we’re carrying at Awesome Avenue.biz, why they’re significant from a historical and popular culture perspective, and feature special promotions on these products and brands along with others we are having at the store.  You’ll also find that Street Beat will be more personable as well, because all of the entries will be written and signed by me, David Landis, the founder of Awesome Avenue.biz.  So, with that, I will stop here, and let you have fun on Awesome Avenue.biz.  And if you like any of the new products you see, I’ll take 20% off the purchase price.  Simply type the code, Street Beat, where prompted on the checkout pages, and you will see the discount reflected automatically.

Thank you, and have a wonderful weekend.

David Landis
