I realize I have not kept my promise and updated this blog as often as I had committed to do. And many of you have contacted me saying you’re waiting for the next entry. For that I’m truly sorry for the long delay. If you will allow me to explain what kept me from communicating with you guys, once Black Friday hit back in November, it felt as if we were off to the races at Awesome Avenue. We started getting inundated with orders, and it took us through the first couple weeks of January to catch up. Fortunately, we are able to say, that in an environment of financial uncertainty and discourse, we did have a successful holiday season. For that, we thank you, and we certainly hope you enjoyed your holidays.
What we found to be most interesting about this particular holiday shopping season is that it was the lower priced items that really drove our sales. During the holidays of 2006 and 2007, we found ourselves selling a lot more of our higher ticketed items such as Vuarnet sunglasses and clothing by designers like Roar. Those kinds of items barely sold at all this holiday. It was really the less expensive items items such as the Smurf plush dolls, Smurfette t-shirts and the Rubik’s Cube Key Ring, along with our staple toys that always sell well during the holidays like Lite Brite and the Pay Day board game, that drove our success this year.
Good thing is we are finally all caught up now, and we have a bunch of new products arriving at the store this month. So far, we already have classic Spam logo t-shirts – you know Spam, America’s favorite canned meat - and the classic board game, Parcheesi available for sale. (Parcheesi has only been on the site for 3 days, and it is flying off the shelves!) But, stay tuned, because you’re about to see an even larger selection of diverse products available from Curious George to Ferrari. Ferrari? Yes – Ferrari!
